      Not sure what you are asking or trying to say. If you are referring to the tonearm weight in this video, I never bother with balancing and setting the gram gauge on the weight. I always measure the tonearm weight with a digital scale. For me, this is more accurate. So, if you see the numbered wheel on the weight showing what looks to be an incorrect value, this is simply because I don't use that. Peace.

    This was a very precise instrument - mounted wity a Shure M91ED Nude ellptical diamond at only 1¼ g of tracking force. Best sound I've heard from LPs (except maybe SEE Revolver with Mission 774lc tonearm and NAGAOKA MP-11 Gold cartridge). Either of those were top notch vinyl players.

      @@emeeul If the tonearm is in good shape, it should be a strong contender for your consideration. Spin the platter with the belt removed. It should spin freely and emit no rubbing sounds. IF it does have resistance in the revolutions, then it could still be considered... albeit, at a reduced price. A little googling and you can easily remove the spindle, clean the old wax-like grease, re-lube and have a stellar set up.

      @@keeury It's not an extreme tune like that. HP increase is there, but nothing insane. What it does mostly is adjust the ECU map to smooth out the power delivery and make it more noticeable. Best advice I can give... with or without the tune, change your oil when you should. Rotate those tired too, cuz uneven wear will put unwanted heat and stress on that transfer case. Do that, and you're golden.

      @@keeury If by "Pops" tune you mean making it crackle and pop between shifts? The AMG Sport edition (which I believe was only released for 2015, before MB went to the AMG C43 in 2016) had an advanced timing feature built in from the factory. This gave it a sort of popping sound between shifts. I cannot say that it would be ok if you have yours tuned to do this. The tune that this video is showcasing does not make those pops - in case that is what you are thinking. That was already a part of the car. Also, while I don't mind offering some feedback on how my experience was with this tune, each person has to decide what is best for them, and what you are comfortable with. For more detailed question on this tune, and weather it is safe for you and your car, I would recommend you contact the tuning company. They can offer your better advice. Peace

I don't remember that info off-hand. Not sure if this helps, but the power increase was noticeable, but nothing MASSIVE. What it did do that was massive was smooth out the power delivery. If you check the website for this tuner around major holidays, they usually run a 40% deal. That's what I did. Peace

    Listening through my desktop speakers I cannot tell much difference. I would not have picked one over the other. However, through my headphones the RT85 is the clear winner. The RT85 has more details, longer sustains, tighter bass, less splashy cymbals, and a quieter background. The PL-115D is not bad. Between the 2, the RT85 is a better choice for audiophile.

    • @tachikaze7
      @tachikaze7 4 месяца назад

      I'd say that this is an accurate observation. Typically, those who are drawn to the sound characteristics of vintage turntables and/or amps are pleased by the "warmer" profile these particular pieces produce. I could not debate on what one is audiophile over the other - as this is (for the most part) very subjective - but it might be like talking with a person who only prefers music delivered through hi-res lossless digital, claiming that format is audiophile. Whereas the vinyl listener might hear that format and cringe, stating digital is too clinical and tight. Totally subjective. However, I value your insights. Thanks for commenting. Peace!

    I problems with these type of videos over 90 odd percent of your sound that you’re going to get from. Your turntable will come from the stylus/cartridge turntable pretty much has one job to spin the platter at the correct speed with no interference are vibrations or sound whilst doing so, and once you eliminate the really crappy entry level, rubbish turntables you sorted. I know the audio file snobs will not agree with that philosophy, but I look at it this way once you’ve got yourself a really great quality cartridge and a great quality stylus and a turntable which works perfectly regardless of its age, vintage or new year, you’ve got a great music coming from your records anything on top of that is fashion jewellery and basically a muscle flex which we all know they like to do and you don’t really have to spend a lot of money to get a turntable which will spin a record at the correct speed with no noise or interference or vibration

    On Stanleys eBay shop the cart seem to be a lot less protruded than on your yours. How come?? Did you intentionally mount it this way?

    • @tachikaze7
      @tachikaze7 4 месяца назад

      This is a good observation on your part. You are correct - the cart does extend slightly more from the wood housing. I did this because I did not want to completely dismantle the housing around the original cart, and glue it into the wood enclosure. Instead, I used some blue tacky gum to secure it. My resigning here was: if I ever need to remove or replace the cart, it won't be at the expense of the wood enclosure. My approach has not seemed to negatively affect the sound quality at all. In fact, it is more likely that the blue tack has aid in extra dampening. Hope this answers your question. Peace

    • @julemandn24
      @julemandn24 4 месяца назад

      Thanks for a thorough explanation! I just ordered the wood body yesterday, but I’m planning on gluing the thing together. Stanley says that you can use a scalpel to cut the glue off, if you need to remove the cart. Just as long as glue is only Apple-id to the sides. And it should also be possible to remove the stylus with the original way of mounting it. However good alternative with the Blue tack. I actually thought that that might have been what you did. Hi i have an old sansui SR-222 turntable i dragged out cleaned up and wanted to replace the belt but having trouble removing platter is there a retaining clip somewhere or does it just need some gentle persuasion to pull off spindle. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

    • @tachikaze7
      @tachikaze7 5 месяцев назад

      Hi Mark. There is not a retaining pin, or anything of that sort that keeps the platter secured to the spindle. As you have already suggested, some careful maneuvering is necessary to pull the platter off. Don't spray anything on it - like WD40, etc. Try first to gently pull up on the platter and push down with your thumbs on the spindle. If that does not work, You could try fanning a blow dyer over the spindle area to help release any possible spindle oil that may have seized up and turned into a sort of glue. The old lubricant does not age well and can get sticky. If that still does not work, dip a Q-tip in some rubbing alcohol and dab it on the spindle where it meets the top of the platter. The SR-222 is an amazing turntable. Simple and accurate. I sold mine because I have the 929 and 838 in my collection. If it's been in storage for any length of time, consider re-oiling the motor and if you have the skill, the spindle shaft. Peace.

I mean, it sounds great to me... but I rarely pull it out to spin. I just have too many other TTs that are far nicer. The feet are from Amazon. Nothing special. There’s definitely a huge difference. I wonder if the relative setup is making a difference. The Fluance is pulling out the pulsating drone and losing the guitar riff a bit. The Pioneer sounds more balanced but not getting that drone as much. Is the stylus leaning against one groove wall especially on the Fluance? Maybe sharing the headshell is affecting azimuth or alignment?

Not sure if something is not bolted properly or if it's missing something to make the motor stable. Or the motor could just be bad, i.e.vibrating, the cover just makes it worse. The motor freely moves around. Not sure if that should be the case. It looks like someone has had a go at it before me. Does anyone have videos of the motor area of the turntable that I can compare with? Also does anyone have a service manual for the unit? Thanks TwoCruksMedai if you still have the turntable could you do a video detailing how to restore the table on your youtube channel? Thanks again

      The SR-222 is a great turntable. That you found it at a thrift, is an awesome find! I do not have this TT anymore, but I will do my best to help you. Immediately, to me it sounds like a bolt is missing. And as a result, with the bottom cover in place, it is reset on it and making noise. Here is a link to the site where you can download (free, just have to make an account) the service and owner's manual: www.vinylengine.com/library/sansui/sr-222.shtml Here is a thread with lots of photos of the motor and the components inside. See if this helps you identify any missing parts: www.vinylengine.com/turntable_forum/viewtopic.php?t=120863 Hope that helps, Peace.

      @tachikaze7 Год назад

      @@the.matcardozo Interesting... Never heard of that model. Pretty cool, though. So the anti-skate weight weighs in at 0.8 grams. If you do any fishing, an easy way around finding a replacement on eBay would be to use the lightest test fishing line you have, run it through a bullet weight, tie off the knot and then tie off a loop to hook around the tonearm anti-skate lever. Odds of finding a weight in a tackle box that is that exact gram is rare. But you could find a slightly heavier one and just cut some of the lead off to get it down to 0.8 grams. But to be honest, the anti-skate systems on these older turntables aren't extremely precise anyway. You could get away with a 1 gram weight fine. Your other choice is something like this: www.patsaudioparts.com/single-post/2018/04/15/marantz-6110-turntable-anti-skate-bias-weight Peace.

And the case for the powersupply and the pitch control,on/off and 33/45 switches out of roughly 1cm thick mahagoni. It was one afternoons work including a couple layers of stair paint. @tachikaze7 Год назад

      HI, David. Yeah, I don't think Magna Flow actually makes an exhaust for the W205 platform. This was done by having the original mufflers cut off and the MF mufflers welded on. I'm not sure if Amazon still sells them, but the actual product part number is in the description. If you go this route, I would definitely NOT recommend removing the resonators - I did not. But I have seen videos of others who have, and the drone at highways speeds is unbearable. Peace.

      The original PL-12D, 12 and 10 tonearms are actually nice. Perhaps subject to ta little more resonance and/or ambient vibration. Especially if you have the turntable (like I typically do) close to your speakers. The PUA-7 sounds firmer, keeping the music cleaner and tighter - if any of that can make sense. The ability to adjust VTA is a massive benefit of the PL tonearm. Peace.
